Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May. 2026
Effective Date: May. 2026
Thank you for using the HiFier app! We highly value your privacy and the protection of your personal information. This Privacy Policy is intended to clearly and transparently explain how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your data.
Please read and understand this Privacy Policy carefully before using the HiFier app. If you do not agree with any part of this Policy, please discontinue using our app.
1. How We Collect Data
Starting from version 1.5.14, iCloud Sync is enabled by default. If active, some of your data will be stored in iCloud. For details, see: [iCloud Data Synchronization](#3. iCloud Data Synchronization)
- Application Itself
- HiFier does not actively collect your personal information, nor do we actively collect device hardware, operating system details, contacts, or similar data.
- User-Provided Information
- When using the app, you may provide account authorization (e.g., mounted cloud drives, media server login credentials). Such information is stored locally on your device only. We do not upload, retain, or share this information.
- Third-Party SDKs
- To ensure stable operation, deliver ads, and perform analytics, we integrate third-party SDKs. These SDKs may collect device-related data (see Third-Party SDK Privacy).
2. How We Use and Store Your Data
- Authorization Information
- Cloud drive and media server credentials are stored locally on your device. When you remove the service or uninstall the app, this information is permanently deleted and not retained on any of our servers.
- Files and Data
- The app only accesses your mounted cloud drives, media servers, or imported files in a read-only manner.
- We do not modify, upload, or share your files.
- Downloaded Files
- Files you download within the app are stored locally for browsing and playback only.
- You may delete them manually, and they will also be deleted upon app uninstallation. Once deleted, they cannot be recovered.
- Playback Cache
- Cache files generated during playback are used solely to improve playback performance.
- These files are not uploaded. You may clear them in app settings, and they will also be deleted upon app uninstallation.
- Playback Progress
- If you log in to a media server, we will report your playback progress to that server to record your viewing history.
- This feature is currently always enabled and cannot be turned off.
- Lyrics and Cover Art Search
- When enabled (default setting), the app may send the song title, artist name, album name, or filename to third-party search services to retrieve lyrics and cover art.
- Results are stored locally only and never uploaded.
- You may disable this feature in the settings.
- Music Recognition
- We use Apple’s system services to provide music recognition features.
- For related privacy policies, please refer to:
3. iCloud Data Synchronization
The iCloud synchronization feature primarily provides the following functions:
-
Data Recovery: Restore your data after uninstalling and reinstalling the application.
-
Multi-device Sync: Sync data across multiple devices logged into the same Apple ID.
This feature is enabled by default. If the functions above do not suit your needs, you can manually disable them within the app settings or via the iOS system settings and you can also delete those data.
What Data is Synchronized?
- Media Servers (WebDAV, Samba, etc.): Server addresses and login credentials to ensure seamless access after reinstallation or on other devices.
- Cloud Storage & Authentication Services: Basic user information (for UI display) and relevant authentication tokens. This ensures you can access these resources without needing to re-authorize on every device.
- User Data: Includes bookmarks/favorites, custom playlists, watch history, and other personalized settings.
How Data is Synchronized
All aforementioned data is stored in a hidden partition of your iCloud storage. These files are not visible in iCloud Drive because they use a specific format; modifying them manually could cause the application to malfunction.
Storage of Sensitive Data
Sensitive data primarily refers to your login credentials. If leaked, unauthorized users could gain access to your accounts. Depending on the connection, this could grant full access or read-only permissions. To ensure maximum security, we use iCloud Keychain, a specialized service provided by Apple, to sync this data. For more details, please refer to: Apple iCloud Keychain Privacy
Non-Sensitive Data
Other non-sensitive data is saved in plain text within your iCloud file system. This data remains invisible to the user.
